Hello, my name is Emma and I’m a Texas high school senior who grew up in Hungary and plays classical piano. Last year, I started a fundraiser to help the village of Gut in Ukraine.
This year, I am continuing the fundraiser but focusing on children affected by the war. Save Ukraine, the non-profit we are sending funds to this time around, is based in the region. I created a waltz-inspired classical piano piece that all donors will receive for free in a timely manner. The purpose of the song is to keep the war, especially Ukrainian children, in our minds and hearts.I chose to connect the fundraiser to Save Ukraine this year because the nonprofit has adopted a wide variety of rescue and rehabilitation methods to help families in the region, including rescue missions, trauma informed therapy, safe recovery housing, art programs, educational programs, and more.Due to decreasing honest reporting on the war and its domestic effects in the US, few Americans realize that Russian military personal have been taking many Ukrainian kids to Russian-operated camps and boarding schools. At these camps and institutions, they face blatant abuse (physical, emotional, mental, sexual), erasure of their Ukrainian heritage, and complete separation from their families. Save Ukraine is actively searching for and retrieving these children.
Finally, I want to share God's promise in Isaiah 2:4-5:In the days to come, "They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Therefore, "Come, descendants of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the Lord.". . . . . . .
